Never Mind the Snow

Some things can wait, but hanging out clothes isn't one of them.... I am STILL shocked at how much hanging out clothes can save on the electric bill! (can you tell we just got our dryer-using winter electric bill? Oh yes, and we heat the house with gas.) I have not done all my calculations yet, but I'm pretty sure it is somewhere between $10-$20/mo., especially when I don't use the electric dryer at all. I DO enjoy the convenience of a dryer, but I'll save that for later... Plus hanging out is good therapy for the whole family - I'll take the brunt of the winter splurges, but come summer, everyone gets involved....

Here is Rebekah last August being creative in fighting
the heat (thus the umbrella), and resourcefully storing
the clothes pins (note her shirt hem....). Job accomplished though!

Chocolate Chip 'throw-together' Cookies

Here are Jacob's version of Chocolate chip cookies: Yummy? Yes, but......

Unusual? Slightly. I suggested he make cookies one day recently, while I ran a few errands. When I came home and tasted one, I noted something slightly different, and asked if there was oatmeal or something in it. Jacob's response was "no I just dumped all the ingredients in and mixed it up"! I guess that's the fast way - you never know what a boy will produce in the kitchen. I won't even go to the mixture of vinegar, soda, green food coloring, marshmallows, garlic powder, Tabasco sauce, etc.... When he left the kitchen after that one, I just looked the other way, and quietly dumped it down the sink.
